Hello

I'm Monica Susan Camacho, and it's wonderful to meet you. I am a registered mental health counseling intern, licensed in Florida. I'm a therapist with a passion for guiding individuals through their healing journeys. As a plus-size, female, BIPOC, and neurodivergent therapist, I bring a blend of personal understanding and professional expertise to my practice.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) holds a special place in my heart. Its transformative impact, both in my own life and in the lives of my clients, has been profound. DBT is extremely important to me so much so, I am working towards becoming certified in the upcoming five years. All the while, I embrace an eclectic approach, incorporating various modalities such as art therapy techniques, sand tray therapy techniques, music therapy techniques and more. Additionally, I can incorporate projective tools (symbols, imagery, tarot cards) to assist self-reflection upon request. Although these approaches inform my practice, I center ongoing collaboration to discover what works best for my clients.

I work with individuals dealing with a wide range of challenges, including trauma, with a special focus on religious trauma. Supporting clients through their healing from religious trauma is a deeply meaningful aspect of my work. I can help you reflect on your previous experiences with religion, and explore what role you want spirituality to play in your life. In addition, I'm a firm supporter of Health at Every Size (HAES) principles. I believe in fostering a positive relationship with one's body and rejecting societal norms that perpetuate body shame and discrimination. I also am a supporter of the Abolish the BMI Coalition.

Creating a safe and inclusive space for healing is paramount to me. I affirm and support neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ individuals, advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement, and am passionate about immigrant rights. I believe books should be read and not banned. I love working with folks of all different races, cultures, beliefs, backgrounds, lifestyles and more. I also enjoy supporting explorations of culture, sexuality, spirituality, kink, and expansive structures, spaces, and identities. Ultimately, our differences enrich our collective experience, and I celebrate the diversity that makes our society vibrant.

I'm dedicated to ongoing education and growth, continually expanding my knowledge to better serve my clients. I strongly believe my clients shouldn't have to exploit themselves and their identities. That is where my multiculturalism skills and continuing education come into play. While I'm here to provide guidance and support, I also believe in the importance of your active participation in the therapeutic process.

If what you've heard resonates with you, I encourage you to reach out. Together, we can navigate the complexities of life and work towards healing and growth. I would be honored to accompany you on your journey.
